Professional concrete foundation pour in Fairfield, OH

Why Your Foundation Matters More Than You Think

Your foundation is literally what everything else sits on. Whether you are building a new home, garage, shed, or commercial building, the foundation has to be done right. A poorly poured foundation can lead to cracked walls, uneven floors, and structural problems that cost thousands of dollars to fix.

We specialize in concrete slabs and foundation work for both residential and commercial projects in Fairfield, OH. From small shed pads to large building foundations, we have the equipment and experience to get the job done right. We do not rush the process, and we do not cut corners. Every foundation we pour is built to support your structure for decades.

The key to a solid foundation is proper site preparation, correct thickness and reinforcement, and precise leveling. We take the time to do all three correctly so your building sits on a foundation you can trust.

Types of Foundation Work We Do

Not all foundations are the same. The type of foundation you need depends on what you are building and the condition of your soil. Here are the most common types of foundation work we handle:

  • Slab-on-grade foundations: This is the most common type for residential homes. We pour a single thick slab of concrete directly on the ground. It is cost-effective and works well in areas without basements.
  • Garage and shed slabs: These are thicker than patio slabs to support the weight of vehicles and equipment. We typically pour 4 to 6 inches depending on what you plan to store.
  • Basement floors: After your basement walls are up, we pour a smooth, level floor that is properly sloped for drainage.
  • Commercial foundations: Larger buildings need thicker slabs with more reinforcement. We handle commercial projects from small retail spaces to large warehouses.
  • Addition foundations: Adding onto your home? We pour foundations that tie into your existing structure properly.

No matter what type of foundation you need, we follow the same process: proper excavation, solid base preparation, correct thickness and reinforcement, precise leveling, and professional finishing. When you work with FCD Fairfield Concrete, you get a foundation built to last.

Our Foundation Installation Process

Pouring a foundation is not something you can rush. We follow a step-by-step process that ensures your foundation is level, strong, and built to code. Here is what to expect when we install your concrete slab or foundation.

First, we excavate the area to the proper depth and remove any organic material like topsoil, roots, or debris. Then we compact the subgrade soil to create a stable base. Next, we add a layer of gravel (typically 4 to 6 inches) and compact it thoroughly. This gravel layer provides drainage and prevents settling.

We install a vapor barrier over the gravel to prevent moisture from seeping up through the concrete. Then we set up forms around the perimeter to contain the concrete and create clean edges. We add steel reinforcement like rebar or wire mesh to give the concrete extra strength and prevent cracking.

Next comes the pour. We bring in enough concrete to fill the entire slab at once so there are no cold joints or weak spots. We use laser levels to ensure the surface is perfectly flat and properly sloped for drainage. After pouring, we finish the surface smooth and cut control joints to manage any cracking that might occur.

Finally, we let the concrete cure properly. This takes time, usually 7 days before you can walk on it and 28 days to reach full strength. We do not rush this step because proper curing is what gives your foundation its long-term strength and durability. If you are interested in our other commercial concrete services, we handle those with the same attention to detail.

What Does Foundation Work Cost?

The cost of your foundation depends on the size, thickness, and complexity of the project. A simple 10x12 shed slab costs much less than a full home foundation. We also consider soil conditions, excavation needs, reinforcement requirements, and any special features like radiant heat tubing or anchor bolts.

Most foundation projects take 3 to 7 days from excavation to final curing, depending on the size and weather conditions. We provide free quotes so you know exactly what your project will cost. Call us at (513) 960-0061 to schedule your free estimate.
